Green Race

Our event staff is working hard to make every area of the Liberty Run Go Green race to be environmental friendly. Here is a list of items of the race that are "Going Green":

Recyclable Bibs
Organic Food
Three Waste Stations for the event with clearly marked bins for Trash, Recyclable and Compose Items.
Goal to be close to 100% Online Registrations -- Decrease in paper registration
All printing done on Recyclable Paper
"Leave No Trace"
Only ONE bag of Trash
Eco-friendly tote
Less Paper Products
NO Plastic Water Bottles
Reusable Year-after-Year Signs and Banners
Ride Share Program - Asking Participants to Car Pool, Walk, Bike or take Public Transportation
Goal to increase and add green improvements every year [2010 - Eco-Certification with Council for Responsible Sport]

“Greenest” Athlete Award

We will be giving an award to the "greenest" athlete in the race (i.e. took "green" transportation to get to the event, wearing green/sustainable race gear, registered online, recycled, etc.).

Clothing and Shoe Drive

We will be collecting and recycling old running shoes and race clothing by donating them to a charity organization. Please bring your old shoes and/or shirts during packet pick-up or day-of the race. Boxes will be clearly marked for the donated items.

Transportation

We highly encourage all of our race participants to help make this race as eco-friendly as possible by carpooling as well as using any other environmentally responsible form of transportation to reach the race.
